How to do it

Find a better deal first. Check WhistleOut for current NBN offers. Screenshot the best one — you'll use this in the call.

Call and ask for retentions. Say: "I've been a customer for X years and I'm looking at switching to [competitor] for $X/month. Is there anything you can do to keep me?"

Wait through the silence. They'll put you on hold. This is normal. They're checking what they can offer.

Get it confirmed in writing. Ask them to send the new rate via email or SMS before you hang up.
